kelailang writes this article to the people who may be concerned, particularly Prof. Peng Ming-min, that Prof. and Dr. Robert Yi-ming Huang of Waterloo, Ontarion, Canada left us on October 6, 2008. In the evening of September 20, 1964, Moon Festival Night of 1964, Prof. Peng Ming-min, Wei, and Hsieh were arrested on charge of sedition. This secret arrest was not made public until English newspaper China Post printed the event on October 24, 1964. Nationalist Chinese were doing this kind of arrest very often to warn Two million Nationalist followers who had joined Gimo Chiang on the Formosa Islands. On September 4, 1960, Lei Chen, the chief leader of an independent loyal-opposition party and the publisher of "Free China"(1), was arrested and his trial by military court on utterly flimsy "sedition" charges. Lei was sentenced to ten years for publishing criticisms that would be considered perfectly normal and legitimate in a country which had freedom of speech and press. Subsequently Taipei's independent newspaper, Kung Lun Pao, which denounced this flagrant injustice, was taken over by the Nationalist Chinese, K.M.T. On October 26, 1964, a group of Formosan in Japan who were member of the Committee of Self-Determination in Formosa(CSDF)(2) telephined and asked us to do something to let the world know that Prof. Peng was arrested It took a long time for Formosan in Canada to organize a protesting parade. Participants from Ottawa and Montreal had no much problems. But from Toronto, there were big argumentations. And we got no answer from Vancouver. On April 2, 1965, - Prof. Peng do you remember the date April 2, 1965, your sentence date - we were walking along Charlotte Street in Ottawa with slogans "Self-Determination in Taiwan and/or Formosa," "Give Formosan a right of self-determination to determine there own future,""We ask for basic human rights in Taiwan and/or Formosa," and "Give Formosan the basic human rights." We had an interview with journalists from Canadian Broadcasting Corporation(CBC). CBC broadcasted this interview and telephone conversation with Prof. Peng Ming-min in their program "This Hour Has Seven Days" on April 4, 1965. However,CSDF in Japan wanted us to do something more. Montreal member suggested to ask a help from McGill as Prof. Peng ming-min had a master degree from their Law School. On April 6, 1965, we went to 3661 Peel Street in Montreal to see Prof. Maxwell Cohn, a political adviser of Canadian Prime Minister, Mr. Lester B. Pearson and Prof. John Peters Humphrey, founding director of the United Nations Human Right Division and author of the first draft of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights adapted in 1948. We told them that we were member of Committee of Human Rights in Formosa(CHRF) and that Prof. Peng Ming-min was arresed on September 20, 1964 on charges of sedition. He was founded guilty of of conspiring through the printing of a pamphlet to self-salvation in Formosa. Honestly we do wish Prim Minister Mr. Lester B. Pearson be his reliant stump speaker. Several days latter, through Prof. Cohn, Mr. Pearson told us that he could not be Prof. Peng's stump speaker but you could approach to Amnesty International. In London, U.K. we were told that the best way to find a person who Gimo Chiang can listen to was going back to North America to ask President Johnson. However, before going to see Mr. Johnson, you should consult Amnesty International U.S.A.. Coming back from U.K. we went to Virginia. Amnesty International U.S.A. introduced us to a China expert Prof. John K. Fairbank who was director of the United States Information Service in Formosa from year 1945 to year 1946. In Boston we were introduced to Prof. Edwin O. Reischauer who was an Officer of Government Affair and United States Ambassador to Japan from year 1961 to year 1966. Several days latter Prof. Reischauer told us that President Johnson just telephoned to Taiwan. From that moment we know that Prof.Peng ming-min would be safe. Prof. of chemical engineering, Dr. Huang member of department of chemical engineering, University of Waterloo is one of the key member of this movement. (1) "Free China Fortnightly." "Free China," 1949-1969, Taiwan was neither "free" nor "China" during these years. (2) In 1964, Formosan want is Self-Determination in Formosa, not the one claimed by Prof. Peng "Self-Salvation in Taiwan."

At the beginning of the white terror, several musician are applying for a privillaged position in Taiwan Normal College at Taipei. A graduate of Ueno Musical college in Japan, through a connection with administrator Lin got the job. However, his connection with this administrator was cut off one day without reason. During the white terror time, he left Taiwan. At one time he studied the music written by Claude Debussy. However, he did not realized that Polynesian Language can not sing in the tone described by Debussy. If he is a Formosan, kelailang suggests that he should give back a prise offer by people at one time said that Taiwanese has no culture but at the other side they try hard to destroy Taiwanese culture and/or Formosan culture.

One of the greatest Formosan is a person who is submitting to a trend to become one of seven million KMT supporting voter but still claims that he is a royal Formosan in Taiwan. We Formosan just study and learn a "Politics and Government" by Karl W. Deutsch and try to understand 228 and white terror.

Do you know that Prof. Y. F. LEE ever talked some things related to 228 ? or self-determination of Formosan in stead of self-salvation of Taiwanese ? kelailang is just wondering.

The International Diplomatic Negotiation is a complicated business. Unless you are the inner core insider, kelailang would suggest the outsider should keep hand-off before an unthinkable domino effect starts to rolling over the whole society to destroy a social structure that generations of people were trying to establish -- a good social structure that good to whole Taiwanese with a peaceful means. In the World War Two, if all war lords of China surrendered to Japan, Japan would concentrate the whole energy to attack Australia and forced Australia to surrender. Under those conditions, what kind of policy the United Allies of the War could take? After the war, the United States of America need a defence line along the east coast of Asian Contiental. In order to have a strong defence line Formosa should be included in this line. For this kind of Diplomatic Negotiation, the United States of America paid huge amount of random price to K.M.T. regime. When D.P.P. was elected to govern Formosa, U.S.A. paid another price to get three-no and one-without from President Chen. The price D.P.P. got from U.S.A. becomes a big issue within Formosan Society. kelailang thinks we Formosan should keep this issue within the insiders of D.P.P. inner core.
